The Supreme Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Government to conduct medical counseling under the National Eligibility Test (NET) for enrollment in MBBS and BDS courses in Tamilnadu. The court said that the Tamil Nadu government can not approve the Ordinance on Tamil Nadu. The court said that the counseling process should be done by 4th September.
Apart from this, the court also said that Tamil Nadu can not be given exemption right away. Let us know that last week the Supreme Court had banned the entry process in 2017 under Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, the Central Government had approved an Ordinance of the Tamil Nadu Government in consultation with Attorney General K.K. Venugopal who exempted medical students from appearing in the general entrance examination. On August 14, the Center had agreed to give the state a one-year exemption from the examination, only if ‘the state government issues an exception ordinance for this year.
Tamil Nadu initially passed two bills in the state assembly, seeking permanent exemption, later attempted to get out for at least one or two years.
