Are you interested to complete online degree programs from any university but be careful. Those people who have been included in the advertisement of such courses in the newspapers should be careful because the Education Regulatory University Grants Commission (UGC) does not recognize any of the fully proposed courses through online mode. UGC Deputy Director S.K. MIshra In response to a question under the Right to Information, Mishra said, “UGC has not yet recognized any university / institute for offering distance education programs through online mode.

Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) and Sikkim Manipal University Directorate of Distance Education has asked the students to submit a request for a special course. The website states: “The university has planned to start many courses online degree programs and online masters degree programs, depending on the interests of the students for special courses. You may wish to submit your request, in case the course you desire does not feature in the available list.

Former Distance Education Bureau ( DEC) officials and current regulators, the UGC Express, they are worried that there is no regulatory framework for online courses. “DEC did not give any  university permission to run any course completely through online degrees or online mode. Online study material can be a complementary teaching method, The DEC had never accepted, “says Manjulika Srivastava, but by completing the entire course through online mode who held a senior post in the DEC.




A senior Distance Education Bureau ( DEB ) official says, “We have taken note of these incidents and have set up a committee to investigate the matter, we will see whether it is possible to prepare a regulatory framework.
